NCPTSA and NC Administration are proud to introduce Watch D.O.G.S. to Norterra Canyon School, a nationally recognized initiative promoting family and community engagement. Watch D.O.G.S. aims to:

• Provide positive male role models, emphasizing the importance of education through their presence.

• Enhance school security and reduce bullying by providing extra vigilance.

Benefits of the program include:

• Students gain positive male role models.

• Schools benefit from increased security and reduced bullying.

• Fathers gain insight into their children’s daily lives, fostering stronger connections.

• Increased parental involvement positively impacts academic performance, self-esteem, and behavior.

• Meet the Teacher Night - Tues, 7/30/2024 3:30pm-5pm, in the MPR

  • TOP Dogs will be at Meet the Teacher Night to answer questions and share all the benefits of becoming an NC Watch DOG

• Kinder and New Parent Flamingle - Thurs, 8/1/2024 after drop-off, in the MPR

  • This event is open to all NC Kinder parents and new families to Norterra Canyon School

• Grandparents Brunch - Monday, 9/9/2024 7:30am, in the Library

  • YES! Even Grandparents can be Watch DOGS. Meet us in the library before school for some treats and an opportunity for our Pirate students to share their school with Grandpa and Grandma.

• Pizza Night Kickoff - Thurs, 9/12/2024 from 5:30pm-6:30pm in NC Library

  • Set this date in your calendar NOW! Join the NC Watch DOGS for a hosted pizza party with fun activities for the kids. All dads and father figures are invited to the NC Library for a fun presentation and to sign up for your volunteer day. Please RSVP to watchdogs@ncptsa.org.

• Donuts with Dads - Friday, 1/31/2025 7:30am, in the Library

  • Join us before Flagpole Friday for Donuts with Dads/Father Figures. If you haven’t signed up for your volunteer day, this is the perfect chance to see the rest of the year’s available dates.

Program Recognition

The WATCH D.O.G.S.® program has been recognized by the United States Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and has been involved in the U.S. Department of Education’s P.F.I.E. (Partnership For Family Involvement In Education) and the Department’s Safe School Summit. The WATCH D.O.G.S.® program is a founding member of National PTA’s M.O.R.E. Alliance (Men Organized to Raise Engagement). WATCH D.O.G.S. ® has been endorsed by the President’s Advisory Council.

The WATCH D.O.G.S. ® program was featured on ABC World News Tonight with Charlie Gibson in their “Spirit of America” segment, on NBC’s Nightly News with Brian Williams, and NBC’s Today Show.
